Lava Mae Hosts Successful First Pop-Up Care Village in San Francisco

Within view of the mayor’s balcony at City Hall last week was a display of fast-moving, innovative, entrepreneurial work about homelessness. At the Pop-Up Care Village, Lava Mae’s shower stall was joined by other service providers. About 250 people — some homeless, some housed but very poor — lined up for intake. They filled out cards with their names, birth dates, contact information and three appointments they wanted to make. A shower, haircut and legal help? No problem.
