At the Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation, we are looking for lasting solutions to broad social problems. When we think about impact, we look for both long-term measurable success of an organization and shorter term operational goals that indicate future probability of success. Having an impact on a major issue requires two elements: directly providing value to beneficiaries and affecting the greater system at play.
We find that organizations that provide greatest impact can home in on a highly defined solution and use feedback to refine their model. These organizations draw on talented staff, boards and volunteers to grow their organizations and drive towards large scale impact. And, they partner effectively with other organizations, governments, and companies to achieve their goals.
