Susan Zhu works with the Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation team to identify and support innovative social entrepreneurs.
Prior to joining DRK, Susan was a litigation and enforcement associate with Ropes & Gray, where she worked with clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to nonprofit organizations and indigent individuals. While her commercial practice focused on complex civil litigation and white collar investigations, she also maintained an active pro bono practice, working on issues involving immigration, criminal justice, civil liberties, LGBTQ rights, and family law. Susan also served as Team Lead for education and criminal record-sealing matters for the firm’s pro bono medical-legal partnership.
Before becoming an attorney, Susan taught middle school special education as a Teach For America corps member. Susan received her JD from Harvard Law School, where she was a member of the Board of Student Advisers and worked with the Harvard Food Law & Policy Clinic and multiple government entities. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Government from Harvard College.
